According to iStore, the retail chain owned by Apple distributor Core Group, the new iPhone 13 range will launch in South Africa on the 8th of October. All four models – the iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max – will launch on the same day.

The biggest upgrades are found on the iPhone 13 Pro models this year. For the first time, Apple has included a fast refresh rate of 120Hz on the displays, a feature available on Android flagships for the last several years. It also has a variable refresh rate, able to save battery by turning down the refresh rate when it isn’t needed on the display.
There are also some significant camera upgrades, according to Apple, but we’ll need to test that out ourselves. It includes a new cinematic mode that is meant to make smartphone videography better than ever before.
“The pro camera system gets its biggest advancement ever with new Ultra-Wide, Wide, and Telephoto cameras that capture stunning photos and video, powered by the unmatched performance of A15 Bionic, more powerful than the leading competition,” Apple stated.
In all likelihood, the new iPhone 13 range will cost the same as what the iPhone 12 models cost at launch. This is yet to be confirmed by iStore, but Apple’s pricing policy is consistent throughout the world.
It is expected that the iPhone 13 Mini will cost R15,999 in South Africa for the base model, while the larger iPhone 13 will cost R18,999 for the base model with 64GB of storage. The iPhone 13 Pro is expected to start from R23,499, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max will start from R25,999 for the base model. Unlike the other two models, the iPhone 13 Pro models start with 128GB of storage.
