Netflix and Sony Pictures have struck a deal that will see films like ‘Uncharted’, as well as upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ films stream exclusively on Netflix. The new deal sees Netflix replace Starz as Sony’s partner for the “pay one window.”

The companies already have a similar deal on Sony’s animated releases. This new deal is more comprehensive, however, as it will see all films from its studios like Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Classics, Screen Gems, and TriStar Pictures studios all head to Netflix.
It is very different to other deals we’ve seen in the industry recently. The likes of Warner Bros. and Disney have been skipping the “pay one window” and are sending their new movies to their respective in-house streaming services – HBO Max and Disney Plus, respectively – on launch. It is worth noting that Warner Bros. has reverted and will not be putting all their films on HBO Max from 2022 again.
“At Sony Pictures, we produce some of the biggest blockbusters and the most creative, original films in the industry. This exciting agreement further demonstrates the importance of that content to our distribution partners as they grow their audiences and deliver the very best in entertainment,” Keith Le Goy, Sony Pictures’ president of worldwide distribution and networks, said in a statement.
