Google to launch affordable Pixel Buds A earphones

The Pixel A series has proved a massive hit for Google. The Pixel 3a and Pixel 4a has been the company’s bestselling phones, bringing a premium camera experience for a very reasonable price. Google wants to bring the same formula to its Buds range, and will launch more affordable Pixel Buds A.

Sources familiar with the developments have said that the Pixel Buds A will have a build identical to that of the Pixel Buds, but with a few colour profile tweaks. They will have a uniform white or green pallet, different to the two-tone design of the Pixel Buds which includes black in all models. The green shade is said to be darker than on the flagship Buds.

To offer the Buds at a lower price there has had to be some cuts from the feature list. They will still have support for touch controls to let users attend calls, control music playback, and summon the virtual assistant. It is thought that the sound quality on the Pixel Buds A might fall short of the bigger brother’s, or that passive noise cancellation won’t be as good due to different manufacturing techniques.

The new Google-branded wireless earbuds will make their debut in mid-April. Google did not respond to requests for comments.

It is expected that the new wireless earphones will launch alongside the upcoming Pixel 5a, the company’s latest version of its affordable smartphone range.
