While Apple has normally been happy to release its range of mobile devices – such as the iPhone, iPod, or iPad in a variety of colours, the firm has been slower to opt for a similar change within its Mac family of products.
While the company’s MacBook range now offers a few colour options – space gray, silver, and gold – a new report has revealed that the Cupertino company might now be willing to embrace the colourful Macs of yesteryear with the reveal of five new colours for M1-powered iMacs.
Apple leaker Jon Prosser cites that future iMacs may come in a variety of colours to mirror the firm’s present iPad Air range – namely, Silver, Space Gray, Green, Sky Blue, and Rose Gold.
According to Prosser, the move will capitalise on nostalgia – with heavy references to the original iMac colour palette which included lime, strawberry, blueberry, grape, and tangerine.
The range, which would arrive with Apple’s own M1 processor inside, would apparently be complemented by an all-new Mac Pro. As Prosser states, the new Mac Pro may be up to half the size of the existing model.
Previously, M1-powered Mac models have been predicted to launch by the end of 2022 – meaning that Apple may be ahead of its own curve.
