When the last Matrix film was released, I was still in high school, but the series is coming back. The fourth film in the franchise is scheduled to be launched on December 22nd of this year, yet the name hasn’t even been confirmed. The only teaser trailer released by the studio suggests the movie will simply be called Matrix, however a new leak reveals that it will be called Matrix: Resurrection.

As is the case with all these kinds of leaks, it needs to be taken with a bucket of salt, as we can’t verify the original source that has since been deleted. It is very plausible name, however, as the some of the returning cast’s characters would need to be resurrected. Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne-Moss are both returning, regardless of how the original trilogy ended.
The leak was initially spread on Reddit and quickly took off on all other platforms.
We have very little information about the new film, but it is expected that the theme of unsettling technological visions of the future will be further expanded. Seeing some of the horrific version of the future we’ve seen since with the likes of Black Mirror, it will certainly need to be a captivating story to excite a new generation of fans.
