If you happen to prefer using Telegram over WhatsApp, a likely reason for your preference is that Telegram enables its users to log into multiple clients across different devices, where WhatsApp leverages its desktop and web apps to mirror what one’s phone recieves.
In a major move first spotted by WABetaInfo, the service appears to be readying a new update that will finally break its reliance on a user’s phone number to recieve messages – enabling users to sign in to up to four devices at once. The update will mean that users can flexibly switch between their devices, rather than need to continously select one app (such as a desktop or web app) to use while on-the-go.
The release will further accommodate the ability to make voice and video calls from WhatsApp’s desktop clients as well, which will likely entice users to leverage the app across multiple devices.
Other incoming features, as noticed by WABetaInfo, include the ability to mute video clips prior to sending, – and perhaps more excitingly a change that would rebrand Archived messages into a Read Later bin, where users could hold chats that they aren’t ready to respond to just yet.
A new ‘Vacation Mode’ would accordingly toggle whether messages are filtered into this view or not, and users would be able to select whether they would prefer messages from chats marked ‘Read Later’ to download.
