Ster-Kinekor are innovating and adjusting to the times, they have officially announced that they’re bringing back the classic drive-in option. Offering families a great outdoor movie experience from the comfort of their vehicle, the first Ster-Kinekor drive-in experience is in partnership with V&A Waterfront and is set to kick off on Friday, 27th November at 19:00 with the screening of the new release Jiu Jitsu.
Despite most movie titles postponed this year, the cinema still has some great movies that’ll be lighting up the night-sky (and daytime too, coz that’s how they usually roll) at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. The drive-in cinema will consist of a state-of-the-art LED outdoor movie screen, which will allow the best picture resolution for the day and night screenings; you’ll simply need to use your car radio to tune into the FM radio frequency and voila, you’ll be set to go!
As for ticket prices, that will be at a flat rate of R250 per car for new releases and R220 per car for older films limited to private passenger vehicles only and one passenger per seat. An addition of just R100 will include your snacks of popcorn and sodas delivered in sealed bags for health and safety purposes. Your snacks can be pre-purchased online with your ticket and will be ready for collection at the venue.
The first screening is officially taking place from Friday 27th November at 19:00, with additional screenings scheduled on Saturdays at 15:00 and 19:00, Sundays at 14:00 and 18:00 as well as Thursdays and Fridays at 19:00 throughout the festive season. The movies are catered for everyone with kids and family films including Scoob, The Incredibles, Toy Story and the new release 100% Wolf.
For those who like a bit of action, other titles (in that space) include Avengers: Infinity War and Jiu Jitsu starring Nicolas Cage and Frank Grillo – a new action Sci-Fi movie about an ancient order of expert jiujitsu fighters who face a vicious alien invaders in a battle for Earth every six years.
