Huawei Music celebrates African Excellence

Today’s focus is related to tech giant Huawei but with a lifestyle feel to it and will gain the most favour with African music fans. African excellence in most things including in music (if not more so) is largely a topical subject currently across the globe.

Prominent musicians and record labels are behind this topic of discussion and are very much key opinion leaders driving this global conversation. It goes without saying but we (Africans) can be extremely proud of the caliber of musicians coming from our continent, with several home-grown talents releasing smash hits and making waves internationally.

With all of that said, how does Huawei come in exactly? Well, through their (Huawei) Music Africa feature, the company ‘is showcasing fresh artists from across Africa, who exemplify traditional, contemporary and cutting edge African music culture. Artists being showcased on the music streaming platform include cKay, Manu Worldstar, Elaine, Sho Madjozi, Burna Boy, Mvzzle, Faith K, and Redsan, just to name a few.’

The Huawei Music team has made sure to curate six new playlists showcasing both emerging and iconic artists from different parts of the continent, namely in Eastern Africa, Southern Africa, and Western Africa. Tailored according to specific tastes and preferences, each playlist is designed for different subscribers across the aforementioned regions.

As it is proudly African and created for an African audience, genres included are Amapiano, Gqom, Kwaito, Afrobeats, Alte, Gospel and South African Rock. That very much means artists and stalwarts of the music scene can be found, these comprise of Fela Kuti, Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba, TKZee and the Springbok Nude Girls. All artists are celebrated equally across emerging talents and contemporary superstars.

The Huawei Music feature has vast features for you (the consumer) ranging from the playlists (as mentioned prior) and much more including competitions, one of which is actively running until 23 October 2020. You can click here, from your Huawei phone, to check all of that out.
