Both Samsung and Huawei have had their turn to release flagship smartphones that support telephoto lenses, and now Xiaomi – the Chinese competitor you’ve probably forgotten about – has taken its chance to announced the Mi10 Ultra.
The Mi10 Ultra is the firm’s new 5G flagship, and ups the ante with an impressive 120x optical zoom and – just for the salience of numbers – ships with a super-fast 120-watt charger. Xiaomi boasts that the Mi10 Ultra will be able to charge to 43% in just 5 minutes.
Naturally, the Mi10 doesn’t slouch in the photographic department. The Mi10 bears a 48-megapixel primary camera with a 1/1.32-inch sensor, a 120x hybrid zoom camera, and further offers 8K video recording. Additionally, the Mi10 features a 20-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 128-degree field of view and a 12-megapixel portrait camera.

The Mi10 features a 6.67″ screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and is powered by a Snapdragon 865 SoC – the same platform that powers the flagships shipped by its closest international rivals.
While Xiaomi may have built its brand (internationally) by selling quality technologies at a fraction of the price offered by its competitors, the Mi10 Ultra will be an expensive affair. Consumers willing to buy the device can expect to have over as much as $760 USD.
At present, Xiaomi may have somewhat of a leg up over its biggest rival, Huawei, thanks to the fact that the marque has been affected thanks to the ongoing US-China trade war and can no longer ship with the use of Google’s Mobile Services. However, while Xiaomi is presently exempt from the ban, that doesn’t mean the marque won’t have to deal with similar ramifications at a later stage.
