Porsche and Boeing working together to build flying cars

Many people are excited about the future of autonomous driving and how it will change our daily routines. Other are focusing on autonomous drones that is starting testing in places like Dubai, which is meant to ferry customers short distances about the packed roads. Now, Porsche and Boing will be working together to build flying cars, aimed at the rich that can’t afford to waste time in traffic.

These vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicles will be electric powered and feature a luxurious interior and features. This growing trend in the urban air mobility market is making some nervous over safety concerns, but many companies believe this will be a lucrative market in years to come as urban areas become more and more crowded.

Porsche and Boeing have signed a nonexclusive memorandum of understanding. This means that they are in a binding agreement with each other and are allowed to pursue other opportunities that may arise in this area, but the agreement is a clear intention to work together and explore opportunities together.

Porsche and Boeing have said that they will create an international team to address various aspects of urban air mobility, including analysis of the market potential for premium vehicles and possible use cases.” This is an obvious indication that these flying cars won’t be one for the masses and will be for the high-end market. That being said, as with any new industry or technology, as advancements are made costs will naturally come down.

It will be interesting to see how these companies will create the infrastructure to support such vehicles, especially in mass.
