Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has announced a co-starring role with Apple’s digital assistant in a new, iTunes exclusive film – The Rock x Siri Dominate the Day.
Google Assistant, Alexa, and even Cortana have gone on the offensive this year to tackle Apple’s Siri – and while the former might be somewhat more useful, none of them can say they’ve appeared in a film with Dwayne Johnson named The Rock x Siri Dominate the Day.
Digest this one for your daily dose of ‘what the heck’ – Dwayne Johnson himself confirmed the news today that he will shortly appear in a co-starring role next to Apple’s Siri in an iTunes-exclusive movie. Read: Apple files a patent for a Siri dock with built-in wireless charging
According to Johnson, the film will be the “biggest, coolest, sexiest, funnest (is that a word?) movie ever.”
While details on the film’s plot remain scarce at the moment, one can divine from the theatrical poster provided by Johnson that the movie will sport its share of action – including robots, a space walk, fast cars and – of course – an iPhone 7 Plus for good measure.
The news, while utterly bizarre, marks an intersection of two new directions taken by Apple this year – the first is the integration of Siri and Apple’s entertainment services (such as Apple Music) through products such as the HomePod, and the second is the fact that Apple is increasingly developing its own content – its first major television show being Planet of the Apps.
It’s difficult to imagine how the movie will run as anything other than a long-winded advertisement, and we can’t wait to see the weirdness unfold ourselves. Read: Rock Clock is Dwayne Johnson’s newest app
