LG's G6+ goes official with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage in tow

LG has officially revealed the G6+; a supercharged variant of its flagship G6 handset that brings with it 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Samsung and LG continue to duke it out for the title of Android’s champion, and now the latter South Korean company has upped the ante with an entirely new offering – the LG G6+; a supercharged variant of its FullVision monster.
Largely interpreted as a bid to up-end the popularity of Samsung’s South Korea-exclusive Galaxy S8 (which features 6GB of RAM) the LG G6+ remains similarly locked to the country and features both 6GB of RAM and 128GB of native internal storage.

Another competitive addition is that of Face Print – a new software feature which LG claims will land on the G6 in the months to come. Similar in nature to the Galaxy S8’s facial recognition feature, Face Print will enable users to unlock their device by holding it up to their face.
Lastly, the device will further benefit from greater battery longevity through a new Low Power Consumption mode, and a Covered Lens warning will be issued to users who haphazardly obscure the G6+’s camera lens with their finger.
Beyond these new additions, the G6+ is largely the same as its standard forebear, and includes a 5.7″ QHD+ display, a Snapdragon 821 processor, microSD support, a 3,300mAh battery, and dual 13-megapixel cameras with a 5-megapixel front-facing unit. The G6+ will run on Android 7.0 Nougat with LG’s UX 6.0 atop it.
The handset is available in Astro Black, Optical Terra Gold, and Optical Marine Blue. Pricing is set to be detailed in in the weeks to come, and the handset is expected to retail outside of South Korea eventually.
