Windows 10's Pick Up Where I Left Off tethers your phone, desktop

Microsoft has revealed that Windows will soon benefit from a new feature dubbed Pick Up Where I Left Off, which will tether PCs and smartphones.

One of the features Apple enthusiasts might feel most strongly about is Handoff – the ability for iOS and macOS devices to wirelessly exchange information and resume tasks from one end point to another. At its Build event, Microsoft has now developed its own feature – dubbed Pick Up Where I Left Off – which will enable both iOS and Android devices to work in continuity with Windows 10 PCs.
The feature will be bolstered by the presence of a universal clipboard, which will enable users to quickly copy information from one device and paste it on another.

Unsurprisingly, using either of Windows 10’s new features – namely, Pick Up Where I Left Off and Timeline – will require a Microsoft account or an Office 365 account. The other caveat is that the former service will function through Cortana – Microsoft’s digital assistant.
The move comes after Microsoft’s disastrous foray into mobile has seemingly been called off. The company’s new strategy – rather than craft its own walled garden, as Apple did – is to work at developing cross-platform technology that will gradually entice users back into the Windows ecosystem.
