WhatsApp’s latest beta has revealed that pinned chats could debut in the near future, enabling users to quickly reach their favourite contacts.
WhatsApp’s search function is decidedly useful if you need to quickly find a contact to exchange messages with, but it’s not quite the same has having a row of pinned chats sitting at the top of your chat history.
In good news, that feature has now arrived on the latest beta version of WhatsApp. Pinned chats anchors up to three conversations at the top of your chat history, enabling you to quickly reach loved ones, friends, or family.

Chats can be pinned by pressing on the individual or group one wishes to anchor alongside the existing ability to delete, mute, or archive a specific chat. Chats, of course, can be subsequently unpinned and re-pinned at will.
The feature is one of many small additions that have made their way to WhatsApp in recent weeks. One similar small but useful addition found in the latest WhatsApp beta is the ability to inform contacts when one changes their mobile number – though this, of course, means porting one’s WhatsApp account to the new number in question.
Incremental updates have become a staple feature of the platform after Facebook brought numerous headlining features to the app in late 2016 – including Snapchat-style image editing, a Stories-like Status feature, and video and voice calling.
