HTC's next Android superstar will be the 'squeezable' U

HTC has announced that its next flagship-grade smartphone, the ‘squeezable’ HTC U, will be announced on the 16th of May.

Smartphones are funny things. Some we press forcefully, like the iPhone 7. Others we tap and glide over glass, like with the Samsung Galaxy S8. The forthcoming HTC U, however, will apparently be a first in that’ll be… wait for it… squeezable.
There’s a reason you might want to walk around pinching your phone, however. While the HTC U is slated for reveal next month, HTC has hinted that its new ‘Edge Sense’ technology will enable users to squeeze the left and right-hand sides of the phone to trigger particular actions.

The idea almost makes sense given the fact that we’re used to either force-pressing or long-pressing the displays on our smartphone, but that kind of tactile input hasn’t quite made its way to the frame of the many smartphone builds that sit in our hands day-in and day-out.

While the Taiwanese company is expected to reveal the specifics behind its next flagship shortly, that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from turning.
It’s expected that the HTC U will bring with it a Snapdragon 835 processor, between 4GB and 6GB of RAM, a 5.5″ QHD display, water resistance, and BoomSound technology for the HTC faithful.
The HTC U is slated to be unveiled on the 16th of May, meaning that it won’t be long until we see what the firm has developed to make up for the critically disappointing U Play and U Ultra.
