The White House has agreed to the National Archives request to archive all of President Donald Trump’s tweets, including those he deletes.
Soon, not even Twitter’s delete function will be able to save US President Donald Trump from having to defend erroneous or inflammatory tweets that he has issued from the past; the White House has now agreed to honour the National Archives’ request that all of President Trump’s tweets should be archived.
Should Trump’s tweets not be archived, they could potentially be in contravention of the Presidential Records Act, which mandates the preservation of all presidential records.

The news means that Trump’s tweets – should they even be deleted shortly after being published – could well be archived forever. It is not clear, however, what system or criteria the White House could use to archive the President’s tweets.
The National Archive isn’t the only source of information on Trump’s nocturnal Twitter adventures; ProPublica has been archiving the President’s tweets since 2015.
Recently, the Internet Archive launched its own Trump Archive for the purpose of fact-checking claims made by the US President. The Archive, which is open to the public online, offers video clips, press statements, and even tweets made by the US President.
Though Trump has long lived Twitter, the service has become a re-occuring headache for his administration. The US President had reportedly been forced to give up his unsecured Android phone upon taking office, but has since been found to have continued using it.
