A new series of leaked renders depicts LG’s forthcoming flagship – the LG G6 – as a revised take on the modular – and unpopular – LG G5.
While LG’s modular G5 handset wowed us in principle – our editor Theunis decreed it the most interesting smartphone in years before knighting the Moto Z with that honour instead – the flagship was a total disaster for LG, and resulted in not only a total shakeup at the company’s mobile division and the scrapping of the modular concept altogether. Now, it seems that the LG G6 might take some inspiration from its forebear.
The LG G6 – which is expected to debut in either February at MWC 2016 or later on in March – has now been depicted in a series of leaked renders which show off a design not unfamiliar to LG veterans; taking reference from both the G5 and the recently launched V20, the LG G6 appears to be a subtle revision on LG’s previous works.

Reports have previously indicated that none of LG’s modular accessories – or ‘Friends’ – will make a return, and the leaked G6 render confirms as much by bearing a revised form factor and the apparent absence of a removable battery.
However, both the dual camera setup and the fingerprint scanner found on the LG G5 remain in addition to a headphone jack found on the top panel. The device appears to bear a rectangular form factor more reminiscent of the LG V20 than the rounded G5, and will reportedly do away with visible antenna lines.
