If you love Clarkson, Hammond, and May and haven’t yet signed up for Netflix or ShowMax, this is could be your moment: Amazon is reportedly seeking to launch its Prime Video service in South Africa, which would include access to The Grand Tour; the new televisions how headed by the former Top Gear hosts.

Further, that comes in addition to the fact that DStv has not yet been able to secure rights to broadcast the series within the country. When MyBroadband asked for clarification, Multichoice cited that “œThe show has not as yet been released for international syndication and the rights are currently held by Amazon Prime.“
While that could indeed infer that distribution rights have not yet been issued, the series is edging closer to its intended November 18th launch date.
Amazon has announced that a new episode of The Grand Tour will become available every Friday for twelve consecutive weeks on Prime Video, but the company failed to comment when queried if the service would indeed come to South Africa.
South Africans will have to wait to see their country on the silver screen; while the episode filmed in Johannesburg was the first to be recorded, an episode recorded in California in the United States will be the first to air.
