Xiaomi’s newest smartphone and sequel to this year’s flagship effort – the Mi 5s – has reportedly leaked online in the form of a new image.
Xiaomi unveiled its present flagship – the Mi 5 – at Mobile World Congress (MWC) at Barcelona this year, and now it seems that we might be able to expect an imminent sequel in the form of the Xiaomi Mi 5s.
A new image reportedly depicting the device has leaked on Chinese website Sina Weibo, and shows a smartphone which looks more or less like its original namesake apart from one key change; the slim rectangular fingerprint scanner has been removed in favour of a round one.

That’s great news, then, considering that we found the Mi 5’s fingerprint scanner to be one of its most uncomfortable assets in our full review.
Purported specifications reveal what could be a powerful device; powered by a Snapdragon 821 chipset, the Mi 5s would reportedly sport a quad-core 2.15Ghz CPU, Adreno 530 GPU, and a full HD 5.15″ display that would support Force Touch (better known to Apple users as 3D Touch).
The device would arrive in two setups; one with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, while the other would sport 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The Mi 5s would apparently be no slouch in the photographic department, either – the device is said to include a 16-megapixel primary camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and OID, while an 8-megapixel front facing camera would handle selfie duty. A sizeable 3,490mAh battery would complete the package.

It’s presently unclear if the device will launch on its own or will be part of a wider lineup – the Xiaomi Mi 4s, for example, launched alongside the Mi 5.
