The South African Post Office has officially launched its own parcel tracking app which is now available on both iOS and Android devices.
The South African Post Office has joined the future, and has unveiled its very own parcel tracking app for customers to stay abreast of shipments send around the country.
The app, simply named ‘South African Post Office’, is now available for free on both the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store.

The app facilitates the tracking and tracing of both domestic and international parcels through an allocated tracking number.
The app accommodates built-in barcode scanning, through which users can determine the origin of a parcel and the name of the person who collected it.
Speaking on the launch of the South African Post Office app, Chief Information Office Mthoko Mncwabe stated that “œReliability and convenience are requirements for customers in the 21 century… As SA Post Office, we have adopted the use of technology to enhance our customers‘ experience. This is intrinsic to our new strategy of modernising our services as a group, with technology the critical enabler for customer solutions.”
The app further offers ‘find a branch’ functionality, which uses GPS to locate a user and then offer a list of all Post Office branches in one’s nearby vicinity to a radius of 10 kilometres.
The app further lists whether motor vehicle licenses can be renewed at a specific branch.
The app will likely be a boon for those who regularly ship goods through the parastatal, although we wish the app had been made available during Post Office strikes which occurred last year.
