Free Windows 10 upgrade ends this Friday

Microsoft will be ending their free Windows 10 upgrade window this Friday. Be sure to catch the upgrade before the anniversary update coming next week.

With the Windows 10 anniversary update around the corner users that haven’t already made the jump should do so quickly. Windows 10 has been a free upgrade for Windows 7/8.1 users for the past year, but the deadline for that freebie is about to expire towards the end of this week. The free upgrade offer expires on Friday 29 July, so if you have been on the fence it’s time to make up your mind. Once the deadline arrives it will cost you around R 1,800 to buy the latest version.

Conversion to the operating system has been picking up pace and update figures for July is forecasted to be the biggest yet, due to those users not wanting to miss the free upgrade window. The operating system has found some fans under their gamer users as it supports DirctX 12 and statistics show that more than half of PC gamers on Steam are now running Windows 10.
If you make the jump before Friday you can also look forward to the anniversary update coming out on the 2nd of August which will have many new features including bolstered security and a host of improvements to the Edge browser. So in essence you will be upgrading to Windows 10 (2.0).
