A new report has indicated that Google is actively developing its own Android Wear smartwatches to supplement a self-produced Nexus phone.
We were quite taken aback by recent reports that Google has actively been developing its first self-produced phone, and now fresh rumours indicate that the company is looking to expand its hardware lineup with two new Android Wear smartwatches.
Two new Android Wear smartwatches, codenamed Angelfish and Swordfish – have been tipped to emphasise Google Assistant; the next generation of Now the company unveiled at its recent I/O.

Allegedly, the company plans to set the size of its ‘Angelfish’ variant between 42 and 46mms, and will feature LTE connectivity, built-in GPS, and a heart-rate monitor.
Rumours indicate that the Angelfish variant appears similar to the Moto 360 and LG Watch Urbane with three hardware buttons, while the Swordfish smartwatch apparently takes design inspiration from the Pebble Time Round.
Apparently, the Swordfish variant would take the place of the entry-level model in the series and would do without LTE, GPS, or a heart rate sensor.
It is presently unclear as to when – if ever – Google might release either Android Wear smartwatch. The company has been implicated to be hard at work developing its own self-produced Nexus device; the first device of the entire range to do without a hardware partnership from the likes of HTC, Huawei, or LG.
It would seem likely that Google would introduce a pair of Android Wear smartwatches alongside either a new Nexus pairing – which HTC have been tipped to produce – or its own device later this year.
