Microsoft has officially let the cat out of the bag; inadvertently detailing the release date of the official Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
Microsoft has cemented Windows 10 around the promise that we’ll only see incremental updates from this point forward; the largest of which – the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which arrives a year after the debut of Windows 10 – now has a release date.
Microsoft accidentally let slip in an official blog post – which has since been removed – that we can expect the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to land on our desktops, laptops, tablets and hybrid computers on the 2nd of August.

Microsoft had previously promised that the Windows 10 Anniversary Update would be available by late (Northern) summer of 2016, and it would seem the date of August 2 makes good on that promise.
The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is set to bring a redesigned start menu with an improved apps list, while Cortana will benefit from proactive upgrades – for example, it’ll now be able to order an Uber – and Microsoft’s Edge browser will finally benefit from extensions.
Further, stylus devotees will benefit from Microsoft’s new Windows Ink features, which will offer system-level integration with styli and offer not only the ability to quickly organise apps, but will further accommodate as a sketch screen though which users will be able to annotate screen grabs and sticky notes.
Windows Ink will also introduce a simplified setup for third party styli, which will allow users to configure which hardware buttons trigger certain actions.
Microsoft has confirmed that the Anniversary Update will be free; let’s just hope that the update won’t be as forceful as the company’s Windows 10 upgrade program, which recently saw the firm pay out $10,000 USD when threatened with a lawsuit.
