Apple revealed the goods at the WWDC keynote yesterday but there are a few interesting features they didn’t mention.

The two-hour keynote address at yesterday’s WWDC event revealed some interesting new features for Apple. watchOS 3, new macOS and iOS 10 stole the show but there some little features that flew under the radar. These features are being picked up by developers as the attend the various seminars at the event, after all it is a conference for developers. Here are some of the new features you wouldn’t have seen yesterday.

Parked Car

iOS 10 will remember where you parked your car. It is quite a nifty feature (especially for some people I know :)). I would imagine it will work great at sporting events and festivals. Users are presented a parked car icon and a sheet that allows them to add details such as a photo of the location, note, or name.

Wake Alarm

Something I have been waiting for. Apple has finally decided to focus on a more sophisticated alarm app. Wake Alarm aims to send you to bed and wake up at the same time every day to help you to keep healthy. You will get reminders, stats, and an all new alarm design.

3D Touch Flashlight

Probably one of the most used features on any smartphone is the flashlight function. Apple has now included 3D Touch support to allow you to control the flashlight: low/medium/high intensity.

Read Receipt

Along with the other substantial changes yo iMessage the “Read Receipt” option allows you to set individually whether you want that person to be notified when you read his/her message.

Push to Unlock

Apple will replace the iconic “slide to unlock” bar on the lock screen with a “press home to unlock” function. Don’t know if I like this one? Does that also mean that the iPhone 7 will have a “home” button? Looks like it…

Rich notifications

Apple introduced the new rich notifications yesterday but what they did not mention was the fact that older iPhone models will also get the update. The only difference will be the 3D Touch functionality embedded in the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus models.
We will have to wait until September for the software update, but all in all iOS 10 (and the other OS updates) look quite good this time around.
