Not content with the release of the Xbox One S, Microsoft has announced its plans to build a better Xbox under the banner of Project Scorpio.
For a while, Microsoft’s commitment to gaming was shaky; when the first Xbox One arrived, the Redmond company positioned it as a media center rather than a truly dedicated gaming console. Now, with Project Scorpio, Microsoft hopes to dispell doubts and prove itself once and for all.
This doesn’t mean to say Microsoft’s gaming strategy isn’t confusing; the newly announced Xbox One S will join the Xbox family in the same manner the Xbox 360 Slim did alongside its predecessor.

According to Microsoft, Project Scorpio will take the form of the most advanced Xbox ever, and will come equipped with support for virtual reality.
Project Scorpio will see Microsoft install the most powerful GPU ever into its games console – with over 6 teraflops of raw performance – that will render games at true 4K resolution at 60 hertz. Project Scorpio is set to include an eight-core CPU, in as similar vein to the original Xbox.
According to the company, the new Project Scorpio Xbox will play all existing Xbox One games and will work with all Xbox One accessories.
While Xbox head Phil Spencer stated that Microsoft doesn’t have any plans to produce its own VR headset, the company did namedrop that a VR version of Fallout 4 will be one of the first to land on the console, which will run on HTC’s Vive headset.
