OnePlus 3 design outed in potential new leaks

A new batch of leaks posted to Weibo have revealed the potential design of the upcoming OnePlus 3 ahead of its official announcement.

News surrounding the OnePlus 3 has been surprisingly sparse until today, which saw an alleged leak of the device’s form factor posted on Chinese microblogging website Weibo.
If true, the leak depicts a major change in direction from OnePlus’ previous designs, which arguably resembles a product close to what Taiwanese rival HTC would traditionally produce.

The pictured device, which foregoes OnePlus’ usual center-mounted camera in favour of one located towards the top of the device sees the introduction of prominent antenna lines and a plain plastic body. Presently, OnePlus is widely known for its distinctive ceramic and sandstone like textures it employs on its devices.
The alleged OnePlus 3 further includes a fingerprint scanner housed in a large home button in the vein Samsung has elected to offer with its flagship Galaxy S range thus far.
The image may not be an accurate depiction of the OnePlus 3 however, as the device lacks any form of recognizable branding.

In what could perhaps be the most accurate part of the supposed leak is a series of concept renders for the smartphone’s packaging, which depict a minimalist red and white design with simple OnePlus branding.
OnePlus has previously confirmed that its next phone will carry a new design that will differentiate it from the company’s offerings thus far. However, should the leak prove accurate, the company’s decision to produce such a radically simplified design is a surprising one.
