Huawei has set May 10th as the reveal date for a new flagship level device named the Honor V8, which is set to bring premium specifications at an affordable price.
Huawei has already launched the flagship P9 and P9 Plus this year, as well as the Honor 5X. Now, the Chinese company has set the stage on May 10th to reveal a new device named the Honor V8.
The Honor V8 is set to be the successor to last year’s Honor 7, which was unveiled in July. Interestingly, the V8 is tipped to include the same dual camera setup that the flagship P9 included, which could be manufactured by Sunny Optical under license by Leica.

The Honor V8 is further indicated to carry a 5.2″ HD display, with a Kirin 950 processor, 3GB of RAM, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s Emotion UI (EMUI) atop.
At first indication, should those specifications prove true, the V8 is likely to pose as the everyman’s alternative to the P9 – a cheaper handset with a slightly lower but certainly respectable skill set.
Should the company stay true to its strategy with the Honor 7, the V8 might just be one of the most accessible dual-camera shooters on the market upon release, which could be an exceptional value proposition if the device retains the same Leica credentials as the flagship P9 does.
The indication that the V8 could bear a Leica stamp-of-approval is an interesting one, as it would indicate a deeper collaboration between Huawei and the legendary imaging brand than was first seen with the announcement of the P9 and P9 Plus earlier this year.
