Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed the new Tesla Model 3 electric car at a California launch event. First deliveries in 2017.
Few cars have been met with more anticipation than the Tesla Model 3. For the unveiling, Tesla invited a crowd of Tesla owners and potential Model 3 buyers, along with members of the press, to the SpaceX headquarters in Los Angeles, California. Founder and CEO Elon Musk took the stage before the eager crowd not only to reveal the new low-priced, mass-market electric car, but to talk about how Tesla got to this point.

The Model 3 will compete with other established manufacturers in the compact executive car class the release date is set for the end of 2017 with a starting price of $35,000 USD. Its competitors include models like the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-Class and at such a low entry price for a electric vehicle, Tesla must have peaked the attention of the German auto giants – especially seeing that many countries will give some sort of EV grant.
According to the Tesla website: “Model 3 combines real world range, performance, safety and spaciousness into a premium sedan that only Tesla can build. Our most affordable car yet, Model 3 achieves 215 miles of range per charge while starting at only $35,000 before incentives. With a five star safety rating, Model 3 will also be the safest car in its class.”
Some other specs include an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in under 6 seconds, seating for 5 adults, autopilot safety features, supercharging for long distance travel. The disappointing thing though is that the first US deliveries will only start in late 2017. The car is a real beauty though, check out the gallery below.
