MSI's Vortex is a Mac Pro for gamers

MSI Vortex, the PC manufacturer’s new high-end gaming PC, offers a full-on rig in a form factor that stands just over 10.6″ high

Love it or hate it, Apple’s trash-can style Mac Pro has succeeded in capturing the imaginations of many a creative. Now, not one to be left out, a certain high-end manufacturer has produced its own iteration on the design with the MSI Vortex.
While the Vortex might borrow some inspiration from the Mac Pro, MSI’s newest creation instead includes a 4Ghz Core i7 processor, dual GeForce GTX 950 graphics cards, twin 128GB SSDs, a 1TB HDD and networking designed by Killer.

Standing upright, the Vortex has a small footprint of 7.61 x 7.01 x 10.55 inches, making it much smaller than a standard gaming rig.
For those interested in buying the MSI Vortex, you’ll indeed pay the price; the no-holds-barred configuration will cost a whopping $3,999 USD, but will arrive with dual GeForce GTX 980 graphics cards and 32GB of RAM over the standard 16GB.
Comparatively, Apple’s Mac Pro, set at a specification including a 3.5Ghz Intel Xeon processors, 16GB of RAM, dual AMD FirePro D500 and 256GB of internal SSD storage costs the same amount.
The Vortex makes use of a similar design to the Mac Pro’s central heat-sink, which pulls heat into the centre of the computer and is exhausted upwards as cool air is drawn in from the bottom of the cylinder.
The MSI Vortex was first unveiled at CES this year, and is now set to begin shipping for those who’re either dedicated to gaming or have more money than sense.
What are your thoughts? Would you buy the Vortex if you had that much cash to spare for gaming? Be sure to let us know your thoughts on this beast in the comments below!
