Google set to develop its own VR headset

Rumours surrounding the production of a new Google VR headset could indicate that the company is pursuing virtual reality products with renewed interest.

There could soon be a new sheriff in town, looking to bring the likes of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive to justice; and, surprisingly, it might arrive in the form of a Google VR headset.
While Google already produces Cardboard – one of the most inexpensive ways to enjoy virtual reality – the company is allegedly seeking to release a new product to take on the likes of Samsung’s Gear VR headset.

The company’s sequel to Cardboard would run on Android VR in an effort to bring virtual reality to a wider audience, and would rely on new services and technology embedded into future builds of Android.
Previously, Google’s chief executive, Sundar Pichai, has stated that Cardboard was “the first step” in the company’s virtual reality efforts.
