M-Net launches GOtv, an affordable television service
M-Net has unveiled a brand new digital terrestrial television service named GOTv for South Africa, which will cost users R99 ZAR per month.
One of the many restrictive features of digital television in South Africa has up until now been pricing. To redress this, M-Net today launched a new digital terrestrial television service named GOtv.
The service’s Value Package will offer 12 channels with family-friendly content, consisting of drama, sport, kid’s entertainment and films, and will cost users R99 ZAR pm. Read: DStv price increase hit customers
Tsabiso Letsoela, the General Manager for GOtv South Africa, elaborated, stating that “GOtv will give many South Africans, who are currently watching analogue television, the chance to experience digital quality TV at an affordable price. The digital service offers compelling channels with clearer pictures and sharper sound quality.”
GOtv will offer an electronic program guide, in addition to radio and music channels which will supplement video content.
The service will operate through using digital network towers throughout the country, similarly to how mobile networks operate.
A plug and play decoder will be available for R699 ZAR, and with a subscription fee of R99 ZAR per month required to use the service.
