The PlayStation division of Sony has launched the official PlayStation Messages app for both iOS and Android, aimed at enabling users to contact PSN (PlayStation Network) friends far more quickly.
“œThis new app helps you contact your PSN friends in a quicker, easier way than ever before“ a Sony spokesperson said in an official statement.
The PlayStation Messages app will allow users to check which of their friends are online and see what games they’re playing, send text or voice messages to their friends, upload and share attachments and swap PlayStation themed Stickers, and search and add PlayStation Network contacts.
The existing PlayStation app will continue to work, and will still support game download management, PS4 Remote Play, and will enable certain devices to act as a second screen.
The news comes after the reveal that Sony has sold over $30 million PlayStation 4 consoles, and that the PlayStation 4 is set to recieve PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility.
