A new report from 9to5 Mac reveals that Apple might be planning a follow up to 2015’s March event, where the company could reveal a new, low cost iPhone – potentially a 6c – alongside a sequel to company’s first wearable in the form of the Apple Watch 2.
In 2015, Apple debuted the Apple Watch in March and released the wearable the following month. Reports speculate that the company could once again use the occasion to unveil the Apple Watch 2, leaving the product in a one-year upgrade cycle.
An Apple Watch 2 could potentially include the addition of a GPS sensor in addition to refreshed sleep tracking and the inclusion of other health sensors.
The potential announcement of an iPhone 6c is expected to entail a 4″ screen with a plastic shell similar to the iPhone 5C. Supply chain analysts posit that a 6c would be launched off-cycle from the traditional devices that Apple unveils in September.
Analysts posit that such a strategy could see an increase in Apple’s waning tablet sales, as consumers who had purchased a device with a larger screen – such as the iPhone 6s Plus – would be unlikely to purchase a tablet which is only slightly larger.
