Raspberry Pi unveils the Zero: a $5 computer

Earlier today, Raspberry Pi unveiled their latest product in the form of a $5 USD computer, officially named the Raspberry Pi Zero.
Raspberry Pi’s first device, the Model B, aimed to place a programmable computer within reach of consumers at an affordable $20-$35 USD.
With the Zero, the company aims to reduce the financial barriers between those who wish to learn to code and who can’t afford a programmable computer.
Produced in Wales, the Zero offers a Broadcomm BCM2835 processor clocked in at 1Ghz, with a microSD card slot, a mini-HDMI socket set for 1080p60 video output, MicroUSB ports, a composite video header, at a form factor that measures in at 65mm x 30mm x 5mm.
The Zero arrives running Raspberry Pi’s operating system, Raspbian, and will be able to run popular applications such as Scratch, Minecraft and Sonic Pi.
Presently, the Raspberry Pi Zero is available in the UK and US and will be available for free on the cover of The MagPi, the official magazine of Raspberry Pi.
