Following last week’s news that the MIA (Mobiles in Africa) group was set to bring Xiaomi products into South Africa before year end, the company has announced pricing information for both the Xiaomi Mi4 and Redmi 2.
MIA confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi4 will retail for R3799 ZAR and will form the more expensive offering of the two. The Redmi 2, however, will be far cheaper and will retail for an expected R1999 ZAR.
The Redmi 2 arrive sporting 16GBs of internal storage, as opposed to the smaller 8GB unit available in other markets.
“œIn keeping with our promise to provide South Africans with the best possible technology at the most incredible prices, we have decided to increase the storage of Redmi 2 from 8GB to 16GB, and lower the price of Mi 4 from R3,999 to R3,799,“ said MIA Presidednt RJ van Spaandonk in an official press release.
Xiaomi‘s partnership with the MIA Group marks the first occasion in which the company won‘t directly sell its products to consumers. The MIA Group, instead, will handle the sales, marketing, and support for Xiaomi‘s handsets.
