Apple has been diversifying their product range over the past couple of years. Last year we saw a larger iPhone, this year its the iPad Pro, next year who knows? What we do know however is that Apple has been fiddling around with a car concept for a number of years. Usually these types of ideas die a slow death, but Apple’s often rumored electric car might be hitting a test track sooner than you think.
The Wall Street Journal’s “sources in the know” report that the Cupertino us committed to shipping an automotive project by 2019. People familiar with the electric car, internally referred to as Project Titan, claim Apple has given permission to triple the size of its existing 600-man team. Apple has also reportedly spent more than a year researching the feasibility of a self-branded car and met with Californian governmental officials on at least two occasions.
Even though Apple has hired driver-less car experts, the first Apple Car will be fully autonomous. The driver-less feature might be introduced in later models. The rumors and evidence pointing towards an Apple Car has increased since the hires of high-profile resources from the auto industry and also with investments in newly built testing grounds for cars.
The latest report however is the first time an estimated date has been rumored. Who knows, you might be driving an Apple Car before 2020.
