Facebook confirms development of "Dislike" button

Brace yourselves! Facebook is finally building a “Dislike” button. After years of refusing to build one, the social network is finally going to give us a way to express something other than a “œLike.“ The social network has been repeatedly reported as saying that they haven’t at any stage planned to incorporate such a function. Facebook has long shied away from building a “œDislike“ button over concerns it would invite rampant negativity. “That isn‘t what we‘re here to build in the world,” CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.
In a surprising announcement yesterday Zuckerberg revealed in a Q&A session that his company has indeed been working on one. “œI think people have asked about the dislike button for many years,“ Zuckerberg said. “Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we‘re working on it and shipping it.”
The exact design of the “Dislike” button is still in the realm of speculation. Zuckerberg stated that – What [users] really want is the ability to express empathy. Not every moment is a good moment.”
