With literally just a few hours before Apple’s “most exciting event” ever more and more information on everything Apple hits the internet. Everyone and their dog is trying to push content in anticipation of today’s iPhone 6S launch event. One of the most interesting rumors doing the rounds is the fact that Apple has taken drastic steps to make sure the “bendgate” issues from last year’s iPhone 6 Plus doesn’t occur with their latest device.
Apple is said to have used a much stronger aluminium compound (7000-series, whatever that means) to construct their latest smartphone models. This material has also been used in the development of the Apple Watch Sport. Both the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6s Plus will be made out of this supposedly stronger shell. This material is 60% stronger than the standard aluminium the previous iPhones used, yet it doesn’t weigh any more.
Another rumor of note come from TechTastic who posted he European prices of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, though it did not mention where it had got this information from, so we’d take this with a large pinch of salt. According to them the iPhone 6S will come in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB versions with prices of €699 (around R10,500 ), €799 (around R12,000 ) and €899 (around R13,500 ) respectively (that’s without taking into account the cost of import etc.)
The iPhone 6S Plus will also come in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities, and will cost €799, €899 and €999 (around R12,000, R13,500 and R15,000). Those prices match the current cost of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, so we might see the same price ranges in South Africa. At least we don’t have to wait too long to find out how accurate this information is. Stay tuned for the Apple event details.
