A new video has leaked online claiming to show off the upcoming Nexus phablet. The device is rumored to be built by Chinese manufacturer Huawei. The video was posted by Steve Hemmerstoffer whose @onleaks Twitter account has a good history of breaking news on upcoming smartphones. In the video what appears to be a fingerprint scanner can be seen underneath the camera, which means the new Nexus could be supporting biometric authentication.
The next iteration of Android’s OS (Android M) will likely launch with the next Nexus device. The OS is reportedly focusing on fingerprint authentication so it makes sense that Google’s smartphone flagship supports the technology.
The handset depicted on the video looks quite large, confirming the phablet design and other rumors stating the Nexus will ship with a 5.7-inch QHD display. We also see that the handset has a matte body design and camera placement similar to last year’s Nexus 5 (which will reportedly be revamped by LG next year).
It still seems as though Google is aiming to release two Nexus devices this year and while we wait for further confirmation you can have a look at the alleged Nexus Huawei phablet in the video below.
