According to industry sources, both LG and Huawei have been tipped to produce iterations of Google’s 2015 Nexus handset.
Most recently, Motorola produced the latest version of the handset to acclaim, despite consumer’s reservations over both the device’s size and price.
LG has a history with Nexus devices – the South Korean company was responsible for manufacturing both the 4th and 5th version of the smartphone which established the precedent of a pure Android experience with optimum specs at a low price.
Both companies’ Nexus handsets are expected to be released alongside Google’s release of the next upgrade to the firm’s popular mobile operating system – Android M – which will be officially released later this year.
Presently, it is expected that both LG and Huawei will produce handsets within the year. LG’s device – which currently runs under the codename “Angler” will have a 5.2″ screen and might be powered by the same six-core Snapdragon 808 processor found in the LG G4.
Conversely, Huawei’s handset – which is codenamed Bullhead – would feature a larger 5.7″ display and carry a Snapdragon 810 processor.
It is expected that LG’s handset – which has been revealed in far greater detail than Huawei’s – might feature 3GB of RAM and a Quad HD display; similar in terms of specifications to the LG G4.
Both handsets – if rumour is to be believed – look to improve on the battery life found on the current Motorola-made 6; LG’s device is posited to carry a 2700mAh battery, while Huawei’s device is rumoured to carry a larger 3500mAh battery.
It is expected that following the consumer reaction to the premium Nexus 6, both handsets will be positioned more affordably in an effort to return to the success of both the prior Nexus 4 and Nexus 5.
