Pixels, directed by Chris Columbus, is a feature film arriving later this year. The movie’s first trailer, featuring Adam Sandler, has now been released.
We know what you are thinking ““ movies based on video games are horrible. That has certainly been the trend over the last thirty years (with some standouts), and it seems to be the early consensus surrounding Pixels as well.
Pixels is helmed by Chris Columbus, a director who hasn’t done anything worth mentioning since the first two Harry Potter flicks over a dozen years ago. It stars Adam Sandler, who has also not been making great movies in the last couple of years.
It is clear that this movie will play off of your childhood example, so doesn‘t that give you some hope that it might be decent? Wreck It Ralph was a great movie in our opinion, and did exactly the same thing.
We don’t get the innate hate towards this movie. It looks diverting, and unlike Doom, Uwe Boll, Mortal Kombat and whatever other video game movies you want to throw on the list, it doesn’t look like it takes itself very seriously.
