With the rise of Google Glass, many fans and naysayers are starting to share their opinion on Google‘s futuristic product. While many believe it‘s the way of the future, others believe that the product is only reserved for smug tech junkies.
Google knows this all too well. This is why they have published a small manual to using your Google Glass – basically a few, simple do‘s and don‘ts.
Firstly, Google encourages the use of proper “˜glass etiquette‘ when using the device. Simple things (that basically translate into good manners) like asking someone‘s permission before recording them and switching your device off in certain areas – just as you would your phone.
Google also doesn‘t want you to “˜glass-out‘. This is their way of saying don‘t geek out on your shiny new glass, and end up reading or watching something while staring into blank space/people‘s faces.
Another no-no is to be down right rude – or as Google likes to call it, a “˜glasshole‘. There‘s no need to act superior now that you have your Glass. Also, don‘t be offended (or overly protective of your new toy) when people stop and stare at you when wearing your Glass.
Naturally, if you are wearing Google Glass you‘ll get more than a few double-takes. Take some time, explain the product to those who ask and be a total fangirl/boy about Glass; you bought it cause you thought it was really cool, didn‘t you.
As a definite do, Google encourages all Glass users to be actively part of the Glass Explorer community. They also want you to be a part of the Explorer Program – a platform specifically created by Google for Glass users to share experiences, give feedback and communicate with the Glass team.
