Kids are forever trying to imitate their parents or older siblings. If Daddy got a new smart watch, then little Tommy is bound to ask for one too. Now, they actually can – and parents can rest assured giving their child a device that is designed specifically for kids.
The KidiZoom smart watch is a smart watch for the young ones. It was developed by toy tech company, VTech, and, unlike other “˜kids‘ devices, is actually pretty cool.
The smart watch forms part of VTech‘s KidiZoom brand of camera‘s for children. This is because the main feature of the KidiZoom smart watch is a camera.
The watch has a 1.4 inch touchscreen display and allows kids to take photos, record video and play games. However, unlike it‘s adult counterparts, the KidiZoom cannot connect to the internet.
Of course, it is a watch, too. Kids can switch between either digital or analog time displays and even change the wallpaper behind the clock.
Because the KidiZoom is designed for kids, you can expect some great graphics. The watch has some seriously clear and colourful graphics, that would appeal to any child.
The watch itself only has two buttons – one acting as a home button, and the other to take photos or record video with. The photos can also be edited (something every kid loves doing) and special effects include filters, frames and other distortion effects.
It also features a USB port and memory card, which allows them to download their pictures and videos onto the computer. Other key features of the KidiZoom include an alarm clock, a stopwatch, 3 built-in games, a rechargeable battery and a voice recorder with voice effects like “˜robot mode‘ – no doubt that that function will be a hit…
The KidiZoom smart watch was first launched at the 2014 International Toy Fair. While the company hasn‘t placed any official age group target on the watch, they have said that their target market would probably be kids between the ages of 3 and 9.
For now, the watch is available in either blue or pink (obviously), and will likely retail for $49.99.
With the rise of wearable tech, it had to cross the age barrier at sometime or another. The KidiZoom looks set to be a hit with kids worldwide, and parents can be sure that this watch could be on top of gifts lists in kids‘ letters to Santa.
