samsung-unpacked-5-invitation
We previously reported on the next “˜Unpacked‘ event from Samsung at MWC 2014, and we speculated that the Galaxy S5 will be released then. Well, it seems those speculations were correct. Not only that, Samsung will also launch the Galaxy Gear 2 at the event, according to the New York Times.
The event will be more low-key than previous years where Samsung tried a Broadway-esque type show to launch the new flagships. The GS5 will reportedly feature some design enhancements and spec improvements, such as a fancier camera and better processor. It will most likely feature a 16MP camera and the Exynos 6 or Snapdragon 805 processing chip. Previous sources said that we can expect a 2K display on the GS5, but this publication mentions that it will still be the same 1080p screen we find today on the Galaxy S4.
Finally, the Times reports that Samsung isn’t going to wait for its usual yearly product cycle to launch a new Galaxy Gear. It will also be launched at the same event at Mobile World Congress, so you can expect the Samsung stand to be packed the whole week. Given the first Galaxy Gear‘s poor reception and low sales, it is no surprise that they choose to punch out another version of the smartwatch so quickly.
