As of today, Web Africa custmers can expect reduced costs of their capped ADSL packages ““ some from as little as R1.50
In January we reported on Web Africa‘s drastically reduced prices for their uncapped ADSL customers; and now it seems that the customers on capped ADSL packages will also welcome new, lower prices.
CEO of Web Africa, Tim Wyatt-Gunning, was adamant that the price reductions is not just for promotion, but rather here to stay:
“œThis isn‘t a short-term promotional exercise“¦[sic] these price reductions are so deep that we believe they will convince many consumers and businesses, who previously felt it was simply too expensive, to switch to ADSL. Each Rand now buys between two and three times more data than before thereby allowing users to start using the internet to its full potential as an affordable alternative to data hungry applications such as TV, DVD‘s, CD‘s and photos“ he said.
While the lowest Home Capped Package still starts at R39 per month, it will now offer customers a monthly total of 10 GB‘s, divided into 5 Any-Time and 5 Night-Time GB‘s. As the CEO notes, “œthat‘s enough data to stream video for 45 hours, Skype for 40 hours or download 20 episodes of your favourite sitcom.“
However, should you be more of a data junkie, the packages will only get better. The value of your package will increase as you move to larger packages. Fromm 200GB‘s upward, the price per GB drops increasingly ““ as low as R1.50 for those who make use of their Night-Time GB‘s. For those who aren‘t internet night owls, the cost per GB is R3.00.
Businesses will also reap the benefits from the restructuring. Capped Business ADSL prices will start at R4.50 per GB. You will also be abe to halve this if you take Night-Time GB‘s into account.
However, Business customers will still have to pay a premium for additional services and privileges ““ including priority bandwidth ““ for which they would need for optimal business operation.
Over and above all the price reductions, Web Africa will still continue to match Capped ADSL customers‘ data allocations with the same number of GB‘s again for night time use ““ for free. This means that if you have a 40 GB package at R149 per month, you will receive an additional 40 GB a month for free, for use between midnight and 6 am.
Capped ADSL packages are becoming increasingly more popular than 3G options. Wyatt-Gunning says that Web Africa‘s capped ADSL option will eliminate the struggle of congested 3G, at highly competitive prices:
“œEven including the necessary Telkom line rental, you will find our new packages massively competitive“¦[sic] So for those still struggling with increasingly congested and expensive 3G, just stop and think for a moment. If you, as a 3G customer, use between 10 and 20 gigs of data per month, it will cost you, best price on a limited promotion, R497 per month. With Web Africa‘s ADSL, including a 4Mbps line, it will cost you R399 all-in for 80 GBs. That‘s 4 times the data for R100 less! The more data you use, the clearer it is that ADSL is the only viable option“ he concluded.
With Web Africa, you can also opt out at any time. All of their packages come with no contractual commitments. This means that you can cancel your subscription within a calender months‘ notice at any time you like. The ADSL line setup assistance as well as support come standard with Web Africa.
