Winamp shutting down – cue the nostalgia

Most people between the ages of 25 and 40 might be feeling a rush of nostalgia coming on right about now. The AOL-owned mp3 player of yore will close up shop for good on December 20th, which means you only have one month to use the service ““ if you’re still using it, that is.
While it is not at all a surprising turn of events, but the announcement is a sad one considering the amounts of people that used the service between the late nineties and early part of the new century. Heck, I still used it up until 2009. In addition to shutting down Winamp.com, AOL and co. will no longer offer downloads of the media player.
Do you have any fond memories of Winamp? I sure do, and I suspect I‘m not the only one feeling a little glum about it at the moment.
