Google is slowly but surely securing some well-respected heavyweights in the field of medicine and science to lead their new startup, Calico.
Calico is Google‘s latest venture; a company that will work specifically and intently on extending the human life-span and furthering research on aging and the diseases associated with getting older.
Google announced their new life-changing venture to the world back in September. The announcement caused quite a stir world wide, and even landed the company on the cover of Time magazine before it even started operating.
The global interest in Calico is a testament to the human race‘s obsession with aging and possibly extending your life pan by quite some years. Calico will offer a platform (and financial backing) for top class researchers and medical professionals to find out as much as they can and possibly make a breakthrough along the line.
Yesterday, CEO of Calico, Arthur Levinson, made an announcement on his Google+ account (of course) to introduce four new Calico team members that will join the anti-aging company in forth coming weeks.
These four are all extremely well-respected in their different communities and have CV‘s that will blow your mind.

Hal Barron, who is currently Chief Medical Officer and head of global product development at Genentech will come on board as the President of Research and Development at Calico.
Princeton University geneticist, David Botstein, joins Calico as their Chief Scientific Officer.
Another Genentech alumni, Robert Cohen who was credited as an Oncology “˜fellow‘ at the biochemistry company will now join Calico also as a “˜fellow‘.
And lastly, molecular biologist and biogerontologist, Cynthia Kenyon of the University of California San Francisco, will join Calico as their Senior scientific Advisor. Kenyon is an expert in the field of genetics and ant-aging and is known for her genetic dissection of aging.
With these big names on their payroll, Google is sure putting a message out there that they are serious about Calico and the endless possibilities it can offer – both in the field of medicine and science. Google is taking over the world, and it‘s time we start realizing it.
