Speculation about the South African launch date of the anticipated iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C has been rife since it‘s release on September 20th.
And now, finally, it seems that an actual date has been flung around the rumour mill.
According to AppAdvice, a possible date for the iPhone 5S and 5C official release in South Africa is November 15th.
The international release of the 5S and 5C is heading for it‘s fourth wave. If one looks at the territories which have previously launched in the fourth wave, it might just be that South Africa is to be included.
The Philippines have revealed that they will launch the 5S and 5C on November 15th. Previously, territories that have launched alongside the Philippines have been the following:
Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Ecuador, Grenada, Indonesia, Israel, Jamaica, Jordan, Kuwait, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Qatar, Venezuela and, of course, South Africa.
If Apple decide to follow the template of previous device releases, it is quite possible that South Africans will be able to get their hands on the new iPhone models in 2 weeks time.
Other evidence pointing towards a November 15th release date include the mid-November launch date MyBroadband received from an industry source.
Another interesting observation, is that two of South Africa‘s leading cellular providers, Vodacom and MTN, have opened “œpre-registrations“ for the new iPhone models.
Whilst no official announcement has been made locally, the waiting game starts.
