It seems that for Google, the sky really is the limit. Or in light of their new venture, even controlling human life.
Google has accomplished some pretty amazing things over the past few years. From becoming the world‘s most favourite search engine, to bringing wireless internet to African villages in huge balloons.
But now, it seems that Google has stepped up to a whole new level.
The mega company announced it‘s new venture today; a company called Calico, that will focus on significantly expanding the human life span.
Does it sound almost unbelievable? Well, according to Google CEO Larry Page, it‘s not. Page was quoted as saying: “œI believe we can improve millions of lives“.
Calico will apparently also be focusing on health and wellbeing as well as aging and all the associated diseases that come with your golden years.
The new company, that could possibly change the way we think about death, will be headed by Apple and Genentech chairman, Arthur D. Levinson, who will serve as CEO and founding investor.
Levinson‘s other company, Genentech, of which he sits as the Chairman of the board of directors, is a biotechnology company that has been delving in biotechnology and biochemistry since it‘s inception in 1976.
Thus, Levinson‘s keen interest and understanding of the human life and body will be super beneficial to Calico.
Both Larry Page and Levinson seem to believe that Calico will definitely have a huge impact on the world and, in essence, the human race.
The question is: if you could choose to be 150 years old, would you?
