With the Easter weekend fast approaching, retailer’s Easter promotions are coming into full swing.
UK retailer Tesco has decided to use the virtual world of the internet, more specifically Google Street View,to conduct a virtual Easter egg hunt where participants are rewarded for finding hidden eggs by exploring their streets for thousands of eggs.
To begin the hunt, participants are asked to type in their postcode or use their GPS to track their initial location.
For every three virtual eggs found, Tesco is giving away a real chocolate egg. If that doesn’t excite anyone into entering into the virtual hunt then maybe this might – for every golden Easter egg found participants can win a Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Jude Brooks, head of social communities and insight at Tesco, said, For Easter we wanted to find another way to bring people together online to join in the fun. The Easter egg hunt is a much loved tradition and this year we‘re excited to be giving it a digital twist. We hope that people from across the country get online and search for the virtual eggs hidden on their street and even hide some for their friends.“
